The Ponty family has farmed in Fronsac since 1905, when Victor Ponty, originally from Corrèze, settled in the small Bordeaux village and began working alongside local growers to learn their craft. Five generations later, Hélène Ponty now runs the family's vineyards, having taken over from her father Michel in 2019 and immediately begun converting the estate to organic farming. The family's holdings sit primarily in Canon-Fronsac, on Bordeaux's right bank near Libourne.

This 2023 bottle carries the broader Bordeaux appellation rather than the family's home Canon-Fronsac designation, a more accessible entry point built from the same winemaking philosophy. Made predominantly from Merlot, it's an approachable, fruit-forward style, showing ripe strawberry and raspberry aromas with a touch of pepper, soft round tannins, and a warm, comfortable finish.

The result is an easygoing, well-made Bordeaux red from a family that's spent over a century mastering Merlot on the right bank, a reliable everyday choice from serious winemaking roots.
